Ioannis Zaboukis was born in Alexandroupolis in 1971.
He is a lawyer in the Supreme Court and in the Council of State. He has postgraduate training in Medical Mediation and he holds a master's degree in Bioethics – both from the Democritus University of Thrace.
He is an accredited Ombudsman of the Ministry of Justice of Greece and trainer of candidate ombudsmen in the ADR. In addition to this, he is the founder and president of INKADA (Alexandroupolis Ombudsman Training Institute) under the auspices of the Ministry of Justice.
Prior to his involvement in politics and his election, he had more than twenty years of experience in active advocacy in Alexandroupolis and throughout Greece. Moreover, he was the president of the Alexandroupolis Bar Association from 2014 to 2019. In June 2019, he was elected Mayor of Alexandroupolis.
