Until 1st September 2019 Mayor of Kalymnos was Ioannis Galouzis. He was born on 1st October 1959 in Kalymnos. He attended Primary School, Gymnasium and Lyceum in Kalymnos. He graduated from the Medical School of the Kapodistrian University of Athens in March 1985. He obtained the specialty of the Orthopedic Surgeon in 1993 at the Orthopedic University Clinic of the National Academy of Athens.
From 2002 until today he holds the position of Director of Orthopedic Clinic in the Hospital of Kalymnos. He is a Director of Surgery. He was Chairman of the Scientific Council, General Secretary of the Medical Association of Kalymnos District, President of the Kalymnos Hunting Association, member of many scientific societies and associations. Galouzis was a Vice-President of the Municipal Council and Deputy Chairman of the Economic Committee. From September 2014 he has assumed the duties of Mayor in the Municipality of Kalymnos.
