Mayor of Petroupoli is Stephanos Gabriel Vlachos. He was born in Lefkada and has been living in Petroupoli since 1965. He was actively involved with the college student movement of the time and was president of the college student association. After his military service, he specialized in Cardiology.
He was elected mayor of Petroupoli for the first time in the 2002 elections. In 2006 elections he was re-elected on the first round. In May 2019 Vlachos was elected mayor of Petroupoli for the third time.
