Mayor of Catanzaro is Sergio Abramo. He was born on 29 March 1958 in Catanzaro. He is married to Maria Priamo and has two children, Marco and Francesca. He is an entrepreneur, one of the best known in Calabria and also on the national scene.
The political career of Sergio Abramo began in 1997 when, with a very large majority, he was elected Mayor of Catanzaro. The mandate of first citizen of the Calabrese capital was reconfirmed in 2001. In that electoral competition, Sergio Abramo won 71.4% of the votes, a percentage that makes him the best voted mayor of Italy, but also one of the most loved, judging from surveys that consistently placed him at the top of national rankings.
From 1998 until 2005 he was president of ANCI Calabria, the Association of Italian Municipalities, of which, since 2001, he had also been a member of the National Executive. In 2013 he was elected Mayor of Catanzaro, for the third time, and President of the Council of Local Autonomies of the Calabria Region. In 2017 Abramo was reconfirmed mayor of Catanzaro for the fourth time.
In 2018 he was elected President of the Province of Catanzaro.
