In 2012 he was one of the founders of "Terra e Popolo", an association created with the aim of stimulating the development of Southern Italy, that will later become point of reference for many institutions for facing the slow but steady loss of public services in Calabria as all the long-distance trains, closure of hospitals and courts, leading him to take important actions such as the hunger strike.

In 2019, he ran as mayor in the first elections of the new municipality of Corigliano-Rossano and on 9 June he was elected in the ballot with 72% of the votes as the first mayor of the new city.
