From 2004 to 2006 he studied in France, where he obtained a Master's degree in Business Administration. He worked as a researcher in the field of artificial intelligence in Sheffield, later becoming a senior manager of business development at a corporation in Malta, and since 2007 he has been a computer science professor at the University of Malta. In 2008 he was elected mayor of Valletta. The main focus in his development program is the improvement of quality of life, tourism, culture and trade. Environmental protection is also a priority.
