Adriana Krnáčová has been the mayor of Prague since November 2014. A businesswoman by background, Krnáčová is the first woman to serve in this position. The Mayor of the Czech capital is of Slovak origin. Since the beginning of 2015 she is also a member of the Committee of the Regions. Her work includes the improvement of urban transport, as well as adjusting the cost for it, making it more affordable. Prague's public transport is one of the best in the European Union. Her work also includes preserving the historical center of the city, and recently, in some parts of it, the access of any kind of vehicle was prohibited.
Under Krnáčová’s authority Prague became a strong Startup hub. Prague’s government-sponsored incubator and coworking space Prague Startup Centre is focused on helping startups grow and scale to a global level. At the present moment, the Czech Republic’s capital is one of the biggest startup ecosystems in Central and Eastern Europe and is creating a very friendly environment for up-and-coming entrepreneurs.
