An open-air gym and playground, which is adapted to people with disabilities has been inaugurated for the first time in Hungary. In Csepel children with disabilities can now enjoy together with healthy children and adults the benefits of physical exercise and group outdoors play.
The Hard Body Hang and MagikMe which are the authors of the project strive to reduce the negative effects of social isolation, which people with disabilities experience daily. Despite its presence at European level, this intervention is unique for the Central-European country. The design of the playground is meant to facilitate physical activities for kids of all ages and with different types of disabilities, which are familiar to parents and accompanying persons and have been created together with para-athletes Zoltán Fenyvesi and Zsolt Kanyó, and interior designer Tamás Erdélyi.
Deputy Mayor Alexandra Szalay-Bobrovniczky underlined the continuous efforts of the city authorities to make the capital Budapest a more liveable and lovable city: for pedestrians, cyclists, children, elderly, young or just physically disadvantaged people.
