Barcelos Bus, the public transport network of the city of Barcelos is going to be massively improving its services. Starting the end of May 2019, additional buses have been launched onto the streets of the city. The service has so far been in an experimental stage with only 2 vehicles running, but now the amount has doubled. Thanks to the new buses, travel times will be reduced by half – passengers using the Yellow line will see a bus at every stop every 20 minutes, while the frequency on the Red line will be once every 30 minutes.
Thanks to the additions to the fleet, buses will also be traveling to new areas of the city, like the Barcelos Secondary School and Medros in Barcelinhos. Just like the first two vehicles, the new ones will be adapted to the needs of citizens with disabilities and will also be equipped with free Wi-Fi.
The Barcelos Bus service was first started in September 2018 as an experimental service. It has proven itself to be quite successful and efficient as it has carried over 80,000 passengers since it was first unveiled.
