The city of Bologna is initiating an anti-pollution scheme and rewards the citizens who choose to get out of their cars and cycle, walk or use the public transport instead. The city strategy is developed by the urban planner Marco Amadori and it’s called Bella Mossa or Good Job. It was set up in 2017 to make sustainable travel more appealing and until now there are over 100 local businesses that have signed up to give away discounts vouchers.
The app also shows how much CO2 you saved on each journey. You can only log 4 journeys each day so people have to keep using it over time to win rewards. The system of point collection is based not on the distance you travel, but on the single trip because it’s important that even for short trips of 1 km. you do it in sustainable way.
