The Danish capital remains impressively consistent in its investment in cycling as transport and in making efforts to push it to the next level. Copenhagen has invested around 130 million Euros in cycling infrastructure and facilities over the past decade. It has 16 new bridges for bicycles and pedestrians built or under construction

Safe roads and clean air go hand-in-hand and so when cities improves their public transport infrastructure in a sustainable way, their citizens breathe cleaner air and their roads are safer. What makes Copenhagen the bike friendliest capital in Europe, is the fact that the Municipality keeps in mind the needs of pedestrians, cyclists and other road users while planning. Cars should not dominate the design, but they need to be just another user of the space.
