A traditional chilling experience is going to take place on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 2.30 pm in the City of Gent, in the Sports and Recreation Park Blaarmeersen.  Known among locals as Bibberduik 2019, this annual event allows visitors to dive into the ice-cold waters of the Blaarmeersen. Anyone beyond the age of eight can enter the water. After a strong warm-up the bibberheroes jump into the water upon a departure signal in search of the coveted 'bibber duck'! Anyone who finds one can take it home as a trophy. Afterwards the participants can restore body temperature with a bite and a drink.

Participation is free and registration is possible until January 23, 2019 only for physically healthy participants. Organization of the event is however subject to favourable weather conditions. If the latter were to deteriorate, sport's ships would cut the knots on Friday 25 January 2019.
