Rental apartments in Frederikssund Municipality in northern Zealand are set to be made available only to tenants with four-legged friends. The apartments, which will number 18 in total, will be built by local entrepreneur Niels Martin Viuff. The apartment block reserved for dog owners will be called Hundehuset (“The Dog House”) and will provide a common interest for its residents

The Danish Kennel Klub, Denmark’s largest association for dog owners, was consulted by Viuff over the idea and praised the concept.Part of the suggestions on how to make the apartments more canine-friendly includeinstalation of a tougher flooring and a dog bathing area in the gardens. Cats will also be allowed to live in the apartments and a complex reserved solely for cat owners is also under consideration.
