Entrepreneurs and forward-thinking companies in several cross-border regions in Portugal and Spain are brought together thanks to funding provided by the European Union. The objective: together finding spheres of cooperation in the fields of research and innovation in the agricultural and food sectors.
United under the “Innoace” project, fourteen societies from the regions Alentejo and Centro in Portugal and the Autonomous Region of Extremadura in Spain are joining forces to reinforce the business climate. They will be carrying out transfer actions, early product and services validation and elaborating on strategies for smart specialization.
The project has three main activities, namely:
- “fostering structures and tools for technology-based entrepreneurism and knowledge transfer to enterprises in key areas of smart specialisation”, referred as Entrepreneur Discovery;
- “creating a favourable environment for collaboration between Knowledge Centres and Enterprises with R+D+I” or Open innovation;
- encouraging cooperation as part of the open innovation process, getting companies, knowledge centres and the necessary facilitating technologies involved in the sharing of knowledge and promotion of co-creation - otherwise known as Co-knowledge.
Co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (known as ERDF), the project is being implemented under the V-A Spain-Portugal programme. What is good to mention about this cooperation is its durability: founded back in 2008, the idea is to have the common work continue in the new programming period, expanded with new partners.
