Is there anything more pleasant than a really good book? Well yes, we say, and that certainly is many good books. To make things even better, just give us reading access for free. Grenoble, as it appears, is well aware of the positive effect of books on the cultural and social development of local communities. Hence, this is exactly what the local authorities are introducing for their residents. As of July 2019 the French city offers free access to all its municipal libraries, regardless of the nationality of readers. Furthermore, all penalties on delayed books are suspended.
In order to subscribe, an identity card or a family record book for the children should be presented at one of the libraries, together with a proof of address. Then, a card will be issued which is valid for a one-year period. It allows you to get 20 items, among which up to 3 pieces of artwork and 5 games; to manage borrowed items online and to return the items at any library of your choice.
The network of 12 libraries offers a rich and varied documents database, including an art library, numerical library with 24/7 access. Find more about the initiative and the offer on the website of the Municipal libraries of Grenoble.
