Tomorrow, 4th April 2019 at 13:00 CEST, opens the second call of the WiFi4EU voucher initiative. The call budget is 51 million euros, and the amount will be given in for 3,400 vouchers distributed by the European Commission across European municipalities. The principal is again the same – first come, first served basis. The call will be open until 17:00 CEST on 5th April 2019. Before to apply for the vouchers, the municipalities need to register on the WiFi4EU Portal. After that, the voucher will give the winning municipality the possibility to set up free Wi-fi networks in public spaces.
The previous WiFi4EU call, which took place in November last year, was successful with over 13,000 applying municipalities from across Europe 2,800 vouchers awarded. Because of the big interest, for the call starting tomorrow, the maximum number of vouchers per participant State is raised from 8% to 15%.
