Brussels is known as the capital of Europe thanks of the presence of major European institutions on its territory. What is more, its mostly service-oriented economy is typically associated with business, not agriculture. However, this does not have to mean that one is deprived of opportunities of practicing their hobby to grow plants or of the chance to cultivate their own natural food, just like in the countryside: thanks to a regional strategy GoodFoodBrussels, residents of Brussels-Capital Region can learn how to produce fruits and vegetables, at home, on the balcony, in the garden or elsewhere.

The free agriculture basics workshops provided under the cooperation between the Brussels-Capital Region, Apis Bruoc Sella and Tournesol-Zonnebloem, have started in February and will run till the end of November divided in thirteen topics varying according to the season and last around three hours each. They present an amazing opportunity to learn how to cultivate without pesticides, how to properly use gardening tools and make use of any kind of surface in a space as little as 1 square metre. Do not hesitate to register now at cultiverenville@environnement.brussels. For full schedule click here or learn more about Cultivate in the City (in French).
