International Literature Festival Berlin focuses on the development of international prose and lyric poetry. Since 2001 the International Literature Festival takes place every year in September in Berlin. During eleven days writers from all over the world will present their work to lovers of literature. All texts are read in the original language, interpreters translate the pieces into German.
The texts, poems and verses are distributed thematically into six sections: literatures of the world, reflections, international children's and young adult literature, speak and memory, science and the humanities, and specials. They are presented to the audience in various forms and places. Most of the readings, workshops, talks and exhibitions are set at the Berliner Festspiele but also take place at theatres and other cultural institutions.
