Koprivnica is a city in northern Croatia. It is the capital of the Koprivnica-Križevci county. The city's administrative area of 90,94 km² has a population of around 30,000 inhabitants. Innovation, creativity and economic development are just some of the aspects thanks to which Koprivnica proudly carries the title of a Smart City.
When it comes to energy efficiency and innovative financing solutions, the city of Koprivnica is among the leading local and regional authorities in Croatia. Together with its strategic partner – Regional Energy Agency North (REA North), it explored the opportunity to set up a local energy revolving fund that would finance its sustainable energy action in the public sector.
The City Council of Koprivnica has established the energy revolving fund which finances the implementation of energy efficient projects. The projects' aim must be greater reduction of energy use and significant financial savings resulting from lower energy bills and maintenance costs. The fund also improves the way energy investments are planned, designed and implemented. It also helps to speed up and simplify decision making about the investments and to bring the financial benefits.
