A new initiative in Ljubljana aims to help local businesses and start-ups in their first steps and to allow them to quickly grow and enact their ideas. The PONI LUR project boasts over 800,000 euros in funding which will go towards the provision of all manner of support to local entrepreneurs.

Businesses and local representatives working together for the common good

The project is spearheaded by the Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RDA LUR), which will supply businesses with a supportive environment, knowledge and skills that would allow them to grow and prosper.

The entirety of the project will be carried out in seven sets of four-month entrepreneurship programmes, the first of which will have room for a total of 12 participants. Over the course of PONI LUR, some 78 businesses will be able to benefit from the scheme with the final ones completing their support courses on 30 September 2023.

Over the course of the programme, participants will meet with a wide range of experts and specialists, mentors and other support structures that will help them enact their vision and their business ideas. Support in the obtainment of financing and infrastructure will also be provided by local authorities.

In order to take part in the project, the only condition is for the participants to be registered residents of one of the 26 municipalities in the Ljubljana region and to be able to sign a fixed 4-month employment contract. Other than that, one needs only a business idea that can be developed.

Citizens of the region can apply for the first phase of the project until 26 August 2020 on its website - www.rralur.si, while a separate presentation of its entire vision and plan going forward will be held on 6 August at the Technology Park Ljubljana.
