The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Kaunas University, Klaipeda University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, the University of Vilnius, Vytautas Magnus University and The General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania are all opening their doors for young students for the duration of the months of May and June. Scientists at these establishments are inviting all interested students to come over and see if anything can grab their attention. The goal of this initiative is to stimulate young people’s interest in STEM fields and help them make their first important career choices.
Visiting students will have the opportunity to take part in many activities (depending on the university, of course) – programming robots, playing with molecules, creating diet plans and maybe even experiment and find the fun in chemistry. Explore the intricacies of creating groundbreaking cures and medicines, learn the process of creating cosmetics, create mobile gadgets and games, find out how to make your local community eco-friendlier – students will have the opportunity to try all these things in the following month.
Stimulating the creation of highly-qualified professionals in STEM fields is a huge priority both for the state authorities and the municipalities. The retention of these up-and-coming specialists is also considered a key aspect of the country’s migration policies.
