Limerick goes one step further in promoting local businesses. The Irish county now boasts a brand-new online portal, dedicated to its food and drink offers. It is meant to become a new digital hub gathering all the exceptional food and beverage highlights on offer in Limerick.

LimerickFood.ie is part of the Food Strategy for Limerick 2016–2018 and has the objective of promoting and developing the local food and drink industry by showcasing the abundance of high quality, tasty foodstuffs and beverages offered across Limerick city and county.

Unique digital hub for everyone passionate about food in Limerick

Limerickfood.ie was created for all food lovers, including customers, sellers, producers, professional chefs, and home cooks. It can also be defined as a one-stop-shop where the food and drink businesses of Limerick City and County can showcase their products and services and learn more about the support and resources available to them. Submission of listings of events or places is easy through the portal.

As for the consumers, they get accessible information on the food and drinks on offer and where to find them. The ultimate goal of this information hub is, of course, to highlight exceptional food and drink by promoting Limerick’s delicacies at a local, national and international level. As of today, there are 30+ registered producers, 85+ restaurants, nearly 90 dining places and several food-related experiences, including a farmers market and culinary and brewery tours.

The launch of the portal took place earlier this week with the participation of Minister Pat Breen, Deputy Mayor Cllr Adam Teskey, Eamon Ryan of Local Enterprise Office Limerick, and Limerick Food Group. Industry leaders gave talks which were followed by a panel discussion and a networking lunch, prepared with local produce.

The event was part of the Pigtown Food & Culture Series 2019. The portal is a subsite of the limerick.ie portal at the Pigtown FoodWorks business event which is open to people across the food and drinks industry in the region.
