There is exactly one month left till the start of the European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW). It will run in parallel between 30th May and 5th June across all European states. It is important for both cities and individuals as this initiative aims to showcase, promote and support the sustainable development practices through a single platform.

What is Sustainable Development? Recently, a global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by the United Nations which previews the pursuit of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These include ending poverty, hunger, reducing inequalities, operating with cleaner energy and taking effective actions against climate change, among others. They all relate to matters that need urgent action at all levels and stakeholders.

Thus, the ESDW contributes to the execution of this agenda, by promoting bottom-up activities, practices and events that are directly aiming at achieving these goals. It is particularly focused on local stakeholders, with the objective to actively involve them in the process. All relevant activities could be registered and promoted on the common website so as to attract more followers and gain in popularity. It is worth mentioning that national initiatives already exist in France, Germany, Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

Literally anyone can participate with a project, as long as it is mainly non-profit oriented and promotes the above-mentioned goals. Register yours now.
