The Estonian capital of Tallinn aims to become the city with the world’s best living environment. This of course cannot be done without the help of its citizens. The Tallinn City Government has launched an ideas competition on its website to give everyone the opportunity to contribute to the planning and the development of the city. The competition is open until 31 October. Tallinn will review its current 2025 city strategy and create a 2021+ development plan, which will set the city’s main goals in the long- and short-term.
In September, the city of Tallin organized a Smart-Up BSR Tallinn Innovation Camp, where around 100 participants from the Baltic Sea Region discussed topics like sustainable smart cities, digitalization, public engagement and co-creation. Among the ideas debated were how to increase citizen participation and promote co-creation to improve living environment and quality of life and how to use artificial intelligence technologies to make cities smarter.
