Smart cities around Europe pave the way to efficient, eco-friendly living. So do the city Trnava. The Slovak city has started to test shared e-bikes last autumn, with the system fully operating since March 1.
The main idea behind bike-sharing is to offer people quick transport within Trnava while decreasing the burden on the traffic infrastructure. In addition to being eco-friendly, it is way more practical in the city and allows you to get faster and easier from one point to another faster without parking problems.
The first weeks proved the bikes were not enough and so there was a decision taken to expand the project. The system includes 50 e-bikes and now 30 more will be purchased. The renting of bikes is free for the first 15 minutes then users need to pay according to the price list. The payment is later on deducted from the initial 20 Euros entrance fee.
