In one year the number of people registered as unemployed decreased by 17 000, bringing the total number to 339 000 last month, according to Sweden's national job agency. The unemployment rate stood at 6.9% in July, down 0.4 % compared to last year. The same rate for foreign-born workers saw an even bigger drop: from 21.8 to 19.9 %.

The drop in the unemployment rate is applied to both people born in Sweden and foreign-born residents, but there remains a significant gap between the two. In percentage terms, unemployment among people born in Sweden is 3.5%, while for foreign-born people it is a much bigger 20.2%.  People trained in healthcare, education, data and IT or constructions are particularly sought after in the Swedish labor market.
