In recent months, as a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic, municipalities and businesses worldwide have been experiencing serious financial difficulties. Bulgarian municipalities are no exception.
As of 1st June 2020, the funds in the municipal treasury of the town of Troyan, collected from local taxes and fees for the collection of household waste, are BGN 579.000 (296.000 euros) less, compared to the same period in 2019. Despite the difficulties and the health crisis, the Municipality is actively working to develop projects and attract investments and external funds.
Towards the end of the pandemic in Bulgaria, the Municipality of Troyan initiated the campaign "Because Troyan is in our hearts". The campaign aims to show people the good examples and results that are achieved when the budget is stable and when the local taxes and fees due to the Municipality are collected.

Every contribution and every good example matter
In the coming months, the local administration will share with its residents what is happening with the taxes and fees they pay into the local treasury and what's the impact of each person's payments is. For this purpose, the Municipality of Troyan has randomly polled opinions and impressions showing only the good examples.
Anyone who wants to see the positive examples can follow the publications on the website of the Municipality, starting from this month of June to the end of November. Each month, different examples will be shared of how each resident contributes to the better development of the Municipality.
The local authorities also plan to reward the most decent citizens. At the end of the year, the Municipality of Troyan will give surprises to three residents, drawn at random, who are regular payers and have no obligations to the municipal treasury.
The Municipality adds that it is aware that there will be deficits and areas in which additional efforts must be made. The local administration believes that all residents of Troyan will find a part of themselves among the things that are on display because Troyan is in the heart of each citizen.
