With its entirely renovated city centre, the Slovak town of Kezmarok will soon become even more beautiful. Citizens will be glad to learn that one of the old landmarks of the city will be making a return following a 22-year absence – albeit modernized and markedly different. The centerpiece of the square in front of the Kezmarok town hall was its gorgeous fountain – removed back in 1987.
The local government of the city decided that now is the perfect time to adhere to citizens’ request for the return of the fountain. Because of the renovation of the green space in front of the town hall, the opportunity has arisen to construct a modernized, yet with old and traditional undertones fountain. The specific spot where it will be placed was chosen because under it is the town hall’s basement, through which the fountain will be supplied with water.
According to local officials, when construction is complete, the new square will be the perfect place for respite and will provide a great opportunity to escape from the heat. Construction should be completed by mid-August with the total cost of the project amounting to 194,000 euros. The municipality is planning on holding an exhibition of historical photographs of the city around the newly constructed fountain and is calling on all citizens to send over old pictures to be displayed in the city centre.
