Liepāja is the third largest city in Latvia and a major Baltic port. The city has rich history, hence it`s very diverse architecture and rich heritage. Liepāja is known throughout Latvia as "City where the wind is born", likely because of the constant sea breeze. Its reputation as the windiest city in Latvia was strengthened with the construction of the largest wind farm in the nation (33 Enercon wind turbines) nearby. It is also known as the capital of music of Latvia, many famous Latvian musicians are exactly from Liepāja. It is a major center of culture, education, industry etc. In other words, this city is the right place where to enjoy art, music and beach activities. Liepājas is an innovative and modern 21st century city, a city that combines global scope with benefits of a small town.  Liepaja is the only city in Latvia, except Riga, that has mainland, air and sea transport access.

Liepājas has a population of 69 443 residents and a total area of 60.4 square kilometers.

In the second half of the 20th century under Soviet rule Liepāja became an industrial city and numerous high technology plants were founded there. Now-a-days the economy of Liepāja relies heavily on its port which accepts a wide range of cargo.

Liepāja is a complete tourism destination. It meets everybody’s expectations for leisure and recreation. City museums and art galleries display rich cultural and historical heritage. Main areas of interest for tourists include the city center with its many churches, the Seaside park with white sandy beaches and the northern suburb of Karosta, a former secret military encampment which is now a major tourist attraction. But that’s not all. Liepāja offers diverse active leisure both, outdoors and indoors - surfing, wakeboarding, kiteboarding, treetops rope obstacle trails, SUP, walking trails, Inline and BMX, skate park, catamarans and carting.
