One of the important factors in the general economic development of the City of Otok, and thus also the development of tourism, is geographic and traffic position compared to the 20 km distant town of Vinkovci, the town of Vukovar and the town of Županja. Existing and planned road communication allows direct exit to the main road Vinkovci-Županja or the Zagreb-Lipovac-Belgrade motorway and the connection with the countries of Southeast Europe. Of special significance will be the planned construction of the Šokačka magistrale, which will connect the port to the Sava River with a port on the Danube River in Vukovar.
By passing a forest thermal spa, next to the watercourse of Virovlje, the pastures of Čistine to the village of Otok and visits to the souvenirs, ethno-collections, and the offerings of gastronomic specialties, along with the establishment of appropriate directions, this area is an attractive tourist destination.
The city govermnet want to be recognized by great rural tourism and they hardly work for it.
