Some 900 Helbiz electric scooters are already available for citizens and tourist in the Italian city
A new sharing service for 900 Helbiz electric scooters in the Italian city of Naples has just been inaugurated. Following in the footsteps Rome, Milan, Turin, Pescara, Bari and Ravenna, now Naples also grows into a city of smart mobility.
On 8 September in the courtyard of Palazzo San Giacomo the presentation of the sharing service of the 900 two-route units took place. Present at the unveiling were mayor Luigi de Magistris and the councillor responsible for sustainable mobility Alessandra Clemente, as well as representatives of Helbiz.
Starting this week, Helbiz's electric scooters are available to Neapolitan citizens and tourists looking to do their part in innovating city mobility. Those looking for a practical, fast and economical way to move around the streets of the city center will be the first to make use of the excellent service.
The innovative vehicles will be progressively placed in the focal points of Naples - Piazza del Plebiscito, Quartieri Spagnoli, Chiaia, Mergellina, Pallonetto Santa Lucia, Borgo. The electric scooters can be used within an area of about 3 square km with free parking (some restricted areas are exceptions).
The scooter-sharing service will be gradually implemented in other districts of the city as well. The new mobility alternative is not only to the benefit of the city but it is also easy to use, efficient and respectful of the rules for physical distancing imposed in relation to Covid-19.
The operating principle and fare conditions are the same as in the other Italian cities: download the free Helbiz mobile application on Android and iOS smartphones, then locate the closest vehicle and unlock it via a QR code located on the handlebar.
The cost for initial release is 1 euro plus an additional 0.20 € per minute for the ride. There is also the possibility of using an advantageous flat rate - Helbiz UNLIMITED at a cost of 29.99 euros per month - which allows users to make an unlimited number of trips per day lasting half an hour.
