Mayor Stefan Radev signed a contract for the provision of a full grant for the social project
The Managing Authority of the Operational Programme "Growing Regions" approved the latest project of the Investment Program of Sliven - "Construction of municipal infrastructure for the provision of social services", announced the Bulgarian municipality. Mayor Stefan Radev has already signed the contract for the provision of 100% of the grant from the program at the amount of 1,999,750.64 leva (or 1 million euros).
Two social centers will be built and equipped through the project - the Center for temporary accommodation of homeless people and the Crisis Center for victims of domestic violence. They will be housed in a common building, which will be built in the central area of Sliven on municipal land on Lyuben Karavelov Street.

"By signing the contract for the construction of the two centers, we are taking another successful step forward in the implementation of our policies to improve the quality of social services and expand the range of consumers. We are responding adequately to the needs and upgrading the network for social services in Sliven," said Mayor Radev.
The Center for Temporary Accommodation of Homeless People will provide accommodation for persons left without shelter for a period of up to 3 months within one calendar year. In addition to providing food and shelter, the center will provide training and retraining courses, so that beneficiaries will be able to find work and continue their social adaptation.
The Crisis Center for Victims of Domestic Violence will also provide a range of social services for children and/or victims of violence, trafficking or other forms of exploitation. The services will be available for up to 6 months and are aimed at providing individual support, meeting daily needs and socio-psychological assistance when immediate intervention is required, including mobile crisis intervention teams.
The total term for the project implementation is 30 months. It includes conducting all the procedures for the selection of contractors, constructing the new building, delivering the furniture and equipment, as well as reporting of the incurred costs.
