Small Italian municipalities will receive 100 e-bikes

Small Italian municipalities will receive 100 e-bikes

The competition is open until 24 July

The “Tandem. Bici in Comune" project is currently underway - a competition, promoted by Iren, one of the most dynamic Italian multi-utilities in collaboration with Anci, the National Association of Italian Municipalities. The project will reward small Italian municipalities for initiatives and projects that promote the circular economy, sustainable mobility and environmental protection.

Municipalities under 3,000 inhabitants will be awarded

The competition is giving away 100 e-bikes or two for each municipality. Settlements with under 3,000 inhabitants will be rewarded for proposing the most innovative projects capable of positively affecting the habits of their citizens but also of tourists.

The aim of the initiative is to reward projects that can create "good practices" and will significantly improve the quality of urban life. Ideas range from the impact on the territory of the project presented to the reduction of air pollution, the effective usability of the services that arise from the project and to the communication tools meant to promote the use of sustainable mobility.

You can participate in the competition until 24 July by filling in and submitting the form at website dedicated to the initiative.  A technical jury, composed of representatives of Iren and Anci, as well as an expert on environmental sustainability, will select the 50 best projects.

To participate, the concerned Italian Municipalities must download the application form, fill it in all the required fields and send it to the e-mail address: biciincomune@gruppoiren.it. The candidacy must be submitted by the Mayor or his official delegate.

The application must contain a detailed description of the Project which must be in progress or completed no later than 6 months prior to the issuance of the notice. Ideas and/or projects not currently or already being implemented will not be considered.

The winning Municipalities that have best interpreted their role as engines of sustainable development will be announced by July 2020. They will receive two e-bikes as a prize, with a commercial value of approximately 1,000 euros each.
