Maribor and 22 municipalities in the region of Lower Styria strive to attract guests with different experiences
The city of Maribor plans to use regional attractions to promote longer tourist stays. The Maribor-Pohorje Tourism Institute is working on a new four-year regional tourism strategy as the current one expires in 2020. After launching a new website this year, the Institute will organize a number of workshops and activities for those working in culture and tourism to create more interesting holiday packages
Slovenia’s second biggest city and 22 municipalities in the region will join forces and offer even bigger and better choice of sports, culture, wine and cuisine activities, as well as city and conference tourism. The aim of the strategy will be to keep visitors longer in the region and to correct the problems the city has at the moment – change the working hours and the entrance fees of the museums and create a better infrastructure and conditions for high-end guests.
