For this purpose, a special app has been released where residents can submit photos and videos
The creative fervour surrounding the upcoming 700th anniversary of Vilnius is growing in intensity, with a seemingly endless train of creative ideas flowing in. The latest of these was announced yesterday and concerns the invitation to all the city’s residents to do their part in the creation of a unique film, created by all and for all.
The film will be called “Once Upon a Time in Vilnius” and it will be the first time in Lithuania’s history that a movie can have so many co-authors. The idea is that anyone can submit photos and videos and thus contribute to a piece of the mosaic and the plot. In order to participate, people will have to download a free app called “Once in Vilnius” from their mobile app store and submit their visual creations there.
According to the team of VšĮ "Menų fabrikas", the authors of the mobile application, it will not only help to capture Vilnius in a unique way on film but will also serve as an excellent guide, which will reveal many unseen places, spaces, tastes and activities of the capital city.
After downloading the app, users can upload videos and photos of no longer than 2 minutes, which capture moments, stories, memories or never-before-seen views of the city of Vilnius. Users can view the uploaded public content many times and share the images they like with their friends on social networks.
At the end of next year, a team of professional directors will select 700 images from all the material submitted during the project, from which the long-feature film "Once Upon a Time in Vilnius" will be created.
The film is meant to serve as a portrait of contemporary Vilnius, which will be a valuable document for future generations.
The premiere of the film is scheduled for the end of next year. All creators selected to participate in the final film will receive an invitation to the official premiere and the award ceremony. Audiences will see the film in cinemas, festivals, and later on a publicly accessible internet platform.
