Call for article contributions: be part of the youthful voice of accuracy and pluralism, together with TheMayor.EU
Faux or fact? Now, it’s up to you to shine the light on the truth
Are you between the ages of 18 and 29, do you live in the European Union, and do you love the truth? If you got three ‘yeahs’ then TheMayor.EU wants to give you the chance to write engaging materials for us – on the topic of the fight against disinformation.
Currently, our web portal is leading an inter-European project called “Read Twice”, which aims to boost the media literacy of the young generation. It’s a great time to be doing this, since 2022 is the European Year of Youth, and we are thrilled to do our part to boost factual and pluralistic media expression and consumption among the citizens of tomorrow.
The Internet is vast and filled with content, but how do we know if we are on the right track to truth in this modern digital maze? For many people nowadays, it can be hard to distinguish fact from fiction and this is where you can lend a helping hand and mind.
So, if you feel passionate about telling a good story, want to try your hand at journalism and are keen on having your materials read by a global audience, then don’t hesitate to send us a motivational letter explaining why you would like to lend your voice to this initiative and the kind of stories you would like to publish to Vincent Iolov (v.iolov@themayor.eu).
The project lasts until March 2024 and during that time you will have the chance to share stories and develop your individual writer’s portfolio. And the best thing is, you will get guidance and mentorship on how to develop your content and how to follow proper journalist standards.
One last thing, high-level proficiency in English is a must.
Wait no more! Let’s shatter the harmful propaganda, let’s disperse the fog of disinformation - together!
Read Twice is an EU-funded project that targets young people and aims to counter disinformation and fake news by enhancing citizens` skills to assess critical information, identify vicious and harmful media content and distinguish between facts and opinions, thus improving their media literacy competences.
The contents of this publication are the sole responsibility of its author and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the European Union.
