Las personas de la tercera edad han sufrido la peor parte de la pandemia mundial de coronavirus. Este hecho se estableció desde el principio durante la primera ola de COVID. Sin embargo, esto ha provocado desafíos no solo para su bienestar físico sino también mental.
Ante el aumento de las tasas de contagio, muchas personas mayores que reciben servicios de atención social en centros residenciales o en sus hogares han decidido cancelar sus suscripciones por temor a la posibilidad de contagio.
Es por ello que la Junta de Andalucía ha decidido tener en cuenta esta insólita circunstancia y permitir a los destinatarios de estos servicios un mayor período de gracia para mantener su lugar en la lista de servicios a pesar de su cancelación voluntaria. Asimismo, se continuará reembolsando a las entidades que presten dichos servicios.
Así, se decidió que los cuidadores mayores pueden suspender voluntariamente la prestación del servicio por un total de 90 días (solía ser 30) sin perder su lugar en la lista. Esto debería permitir un cierto respiro y menos estrés en lo que ya es una situación muy estresante. La medida en sí se aplicará hasta el 28 de febrero de 2021.
Naturalmente, esto abre la cuestión de la ocupación de las organizaciones y entidades que prestan servicios de atención a personas mayores. La Junta de Andalucía también quiere disipar sus temores anunciando que la Agencia de Servicios Sociales y Dependencia de Andalucía (ASSDA) abonará la diferencia entre el coste de cada suscripción y los importes abonados por los beneficiarios.
Lo mismo ocurre con las entidades que brindan servicios de atención domiciliaria bajo el plan del Programa de Atención Individual. Estas entidades deberán comprometerse a mantener el empleo de su personal. Además, debe garantizarse una cierta continuidad, siempre que sea posible, de los servicios. Esto incluye controlar a los beneficiarios mayores por teléfono o en línea y brindar servicios que no requieren contacto físico.
