El operador de transporte metropolitano de Barcelona TMB anunció la semana pasada el inicio de una nueva campaña de sensibilización sobre sus vehículos denominada 'Sst!'. La expresión onomatopéyica se refiere al sonido que se hace cuando se trata de silenciar a otras personas. Va acompañado del lema: "Nosotros y tú hacemos #UnViatgeSegur" (el mensaje del hashtag significa "un viaje seguro" en catalán).
La idea detrás de esto es alentar a los viajeros a restringir las conversaciones innecesarias y, de esta manera, también reducir la posibilidad de transmisiones de coronavirus en el aire. Como es bien sabido, esta infección se propaga fácilmente por aerosoles y este es aún más el caso de algunas de las mutaciones más nuevas del virus.
Naturalmente, muchas personas podrían oponerse a la idea y sentir que una libertad básica se ha visto amenazada. Además, durante el año pasado, la pandemia de COVID ha proporcionado un terreno fértil para que florezcan muchos rumores y teorías de conspiración.
Sin embargo, para TMB ya hay suficiente evidencia científica para respaldar racionalmente tal medida y agregarla como una herramienta adicional en el arsenal de lo que ya tenemos para resistir las transmisiones del coronavirus.
El operador de transporte recuerda a los pasajeros que aún deben usar máscarillas, usar desinfectante de manos y evitar consumir alimentos y bebidas mientras están a bordo de un vehículo o esperando en las estaciones. Sin embargo, no hablar también ayudaría al esfuerzo colectivo ya que significaría menos aerosoles en el aire, que son el subproducto ineludible de la comunicación.
Dicho esto, el sitio web de TMB describe la nueva medida como una recomendación, más que como una obligación o prohibición a sancionar. Por lo tanto, en última instancia, se deja al propio sentido de responsabilidad y preocupación de los viajeros decidir cuánto hablarán y si pueden esperar mientras están fuera de la red del operador de transporte para tener su próxima charla importante con un amigo o en el teléfono.
