Amsterdam bans creation of new hotels
Another piece in the overall strategy to reduce tourist flows to the city
Half the amount comes from the Government
Utrecht is allocating 1.15 million euros to support homeowners in saving more energy, announced the municipality on Friday. The support aims to promote behavioural measures that should lead to lower energy consumption in the home. With the money, half of which comes from the Government, the municipality expects to reach even more people and encourage homeowners to learn about and actively implement energy saving measures.
Actually, a large number of homeowners in the Dutch city already implement measures to reduce their energy consumption, informs the local authority. Consequentially, the Reduction Energy Use Regulation (RRE) will try to expand the existing projects and set up new ones to encourage even more homeowners to take small energy-saving measures. For example, a project that is going to be expanded in the city of Utrecht is the possibility to get advice from an energy coach at home. In addition, homeowners also receive an energy box with measures that they can apply immediately.
In order to make a growing number of homeowners aware of the financial scheme, Utrecht municipality will be collaborating intensively with local residents' initiatives and cooperatives. The city will also be offering information and advice in the field of energy and sustainability. Furthermore, online help and advice on how to save energy will be available online through a central point: www.jouwhuisslimmer.nl/mijnhuis. The “Jouwhuisslimmer” will continue in 2020.
Through the RRE regulation the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations introduces or continues a number of measures aimed to help it quickly start with reducing CO2 emissions. Thus, Utrecht is one of the municipalities that receive funding under this scheme, which provides a total of 87 million euros by the Ministry.
