The ERDF is funding sustainable improvements to the urban environment in the Romanian town of Ovidiu, where 6 500 square metres of new green spaces have been created. The project is bringing together the town of Ovidiu, the Romanian Ministry of Regional Development and the country’s South-East Regional Development Agency in a combined effort to create a green leisure area for the local population.
The ERDF is funding 75 % of the EUR 1.4-million project, which will be spent on developing outdoor leisure and exercise areas as well as expanding the green areas in the town and encouraging the uptake of new leisure-time options among residents. The funding contract will be implemented according to strict standards of non-discrimination and equal treatment to ensure a transparent and efficient use of public funds.Ultimately, the project aims to enhance the quality of life for citizens living in Ovidiu by improving the urban environment and bringing it back to nature.
