Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
This stunning structure was designed by architect Giuseppe Mengoni. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II was completed in 1877 and now hosts one of the most expensive and luxurious shopping centers in the world.
Castello Sforzesco
The Duke of Milan ordered the expansion ofVisconti Castle, or otherwise known asCastello Sforzesco, and the 15th century saw the additions to the building that now host many museums, including one of ancient art.
Arco della Pace
One of the most spectacular city gates is located in Milan. It was built in 1838 and designed by architectLuigi Cagnola.
Teatro alla Scala
This is one of the most famous opera houses in Europe. It was built in 1778 during the reign ofEmpress Maria Theresa of Austria. In 2004 the building was renovated following the design ofSwiss architect Mario Botta.
