A large-scale urban redevelopment project seeks to inject some life into the district by creating, among other things, housing units
The event will be held with the support of the Municipality of Plovdiv, as part of the Cultural Calendar of the city
The street festival "6Fest" will be returning to Plovdiv's "Kapana" district in the summer of 2020, informed the cultural department of the Bulgarian municipality. Last year the art event was part of the Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture 2019 cultural programme.
In 2020, the street festival "6Fest" will be held with the support of the Municipality of Plovdiv, as part of the Cultural Calendar of the city with free admission for all those who are interested.
In its upcoming edition, the street festival will focus on dance and music. In 2020 "6Fest" will start on Saturday, 25 July with a dance and carnival procession on the main pedestrian street of Plovdiv "Knyaz Alexander I". The opening will be attended by seven local dance groups performing different styles - hip-hop, Zumba, swing, salsa and more.
The street procession will be led by artists on stilts from the well-known Plovdiv "Fire and Shadows Theater" formation, then the festival will entertain residents and guests of Plovdiv with small concerts by street musicians. The entirety of the "Kapana" district will once again be transformed into an open stage for artists and entertainers.
Initially, due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the Municipality of Plovdiv had to temporarily suspend all cultural events both indoors and outdoors. After the ban was lifted, the organizers of "6Fest" decided to dedicate the fifth edition of the festival to all artists from Plovdiv. The organizers also urge visitors to follow the current anti-epidemic measures, to observe physical distance and to not allow crowding of people in one place.
The organizers of "6Fest" also invite street musicians from Plovdiv and Bulgaria who wish to join the festival. In addition, as of last year, "6Fest" also invites the audience to become part of the festive mood and the procession, making their own carnival costumes and disguises.
