Aberdeen will host the Hydrogen Festival this September

The city’s leaps in environmental policy will take center stage during the event

Aberdeen’s local government has been making great strides when it comes to environmental policy in the past few years. Their successes will be highlighted alongside the opportunities presented by the use of hydrogen during the Hydrogen Festival, taking place in the city between 30 September and 4 October.

The main and most interesting part will be the one-day conference co-hosted by the Aberdeen City Council on 1 October. The conference will focus on the use of hydrogen and how it can be utilized to solve many problems faced by businesses and cities and how best to harness its power for good. According to the local government’s environmental spokesman, Councillor Phillip Bell, “Hydrogen presents an exciting opportunity to achieve the global energy transition to a low carbon economy…With its history of innovation and technology development for the oil and gas industry, the North Sea Region aims to be at the forefront of this transition creating new opportunities and generating employment.” Throughout the event, representatives will be presenting their projects and will share their knowledge of the hydrogen market.

The wider event, the Hydrogen Festival itself, will also include practical examples of hydrogen development – its use in improving transport, heating and power generation.
