Applications are now open for Turku’s Youth Summer Entrepreneur Market

The Finnish city invites creators between the ages of 13-29 to showcase their work

One of the biggest struggles of young entrepreneurs is finding a platform that allows them to effectively showcase their creations. While they may have innovative ideas and talent, a lack of opportunities often gets in the way of their success.

For this reason, the Finnish City of Turku has announced a competition for young entrepreneurs, inviting them to take part in a summer market. The Youth Summer Entrepreneur Market targets those who are aged 13-29 and wish to present their work to a large audience.

Taking this further, entrepreneurs will get the opportunity to showcase and sell their work from the city’s wooden event cabins. It is important to note that the municipality warns applicants that their business ideas must not depend on water or electricity as the cabins do not have access to these utilities.

The Youth Summer Entrepreneur Market will take place on Kristiinankatu street from 12 July to 1 August. Although it will run for three weeks, applicants will be able to participate for a shorter amount of time.

How can you apply?

Entrepreneurs must submit their applications by 4 June to Venla Nurminen ( and explain why their work deserves to be featured in the market. More specifically, they should include the following when writing their submissions:

  • Applicant’s age
  • Business idea
  • Experience in entrepreneurship
  • Request for specific time at market
  • Reasons why they must be chosen

In a press release, Turku reports that applications can be done as group. What is more, the city assures young entrepreneurs that they will also receive help and support with their ideas at the market.

By holding such an event, the City of Turku provides young creators with the perfect platform for their work. More importantly, it demonstrates its dedication to supporting youth development and encouraging innovation.
