Innovative local initiative attracts attention to unexploited business opportunities in the capital city by the means of art
"Art on the Street” is an innovative exhibition of original works of art by artists from Luxembourg and the Greater Region. They are being displayed in the windows of temporarily vacant commercial premises in the capital city. The project is carried out by the City of Luxembourg in collaboration with the online art platform "Art Work Circle" and the Commercial Union of the City of Luxembourg.
The two-day exhibition displays several paintings at No. 10, rue du Curé (Friday, January 11 from 11:00 to 17:00 and Saturday, January 12 from 11:00 to 13:00) with free admission.
Through this project, the City and its partners are aiming to highlight the businesses that are empty and available for rent, thus creating a new dynamic among retailers, as well as the promotion of Luxembourg artists and the Greater Region, providing them with a platform of visibility.
The event comes after the launch of the "Art on the Street" project in October 2018. Its initiators once again present a series of artistic works in a temporarily unoccupied commercial space in downtown.
If you fail to attend the event, a website makes it possible to locate all commercial premises that participate in the project and that are decorated with paintings, photos or other works. Currently, the course includes a silkscreen by Mik Muhlen, a photographic work by Christian Wilmes, an acrylic painting by Armand Strainchamps and an oil painting by Chantal Maquet.
