Athens Science Festival 2021 will take place virtually

From 27 to 29 March, you can participate in the country’s largest science festival

This year, the annual Athens Science Festival will not be stopped by the pandemic. Now more than ever, technology, science and innovation need to be recognised and praised. For this reason, the theme of the 2021 festival is ‘An era of heroes’.

From 27 to 29 March, the festival will be broadcasted online from the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens. While some may argue that a digital event cannot possibly be as captivating as a live one, the Athens Science of Festival has ensured that both young and old audiences will be left in awe.

What will the festival offer?

The Athens Science Festival will showcase the latest developments in technology, science and innovation. There will be speeches, workshops, experiments and many other digital activities for all ages.

Moreover, 50 distinguished speakers have also been invited to participate in the festival. Among these speakers are numerous internationally recognised scientists – and Nobel Prize winners – from Greece, America, Canada, Israel, Germany, Ukraine, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Some key speakers

Several distinguished speakers and scientists will attend the festival. Among these will be Peter Agre, the winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2003. Agre will discuss the importance of medical science and its potential in his talk, “Shaping a Better World Through Medicine.”

Another key speaker will be Susan Schneider, internationally renowned scholar, philosopher, and author. She will discuss artificial intelligence and its philosophical implications in her talk, “Artificial Intelligence and The Future of Mind”.

The scientist, television producer and presenter Steve Wolf will also attend the festival. With over 30 years of experience in Hollywood and 28 years of teaching, Wolf is expected to discuss acrobatic and special effects in films.
