Audiovisual sector in Murcia receives support from the regional government

The last time this kind of subsidy was given out was 10 years ago

Earlier today, the Ministry of Finance in the Spanish region of Murcia announced that it is launching a new grant scheme aimed at helping out the people and businesses working in the audio-visual sector. They can apply for up to 7500 euros to aid them in the purchasing of the necessary equipment required to do their work. The application deadline is 10 November.

The total endowment set aside for the grants is 200 000 euros

The funds are fully supplied from the coffers of the Regional Government. Each beneficiary will be able to receive up to 50 per cent of the price they have to pay for the devices, provided that this price does not exceed 15 000 euros.

Another benefit is that the money will be paid out in advance to the beneficiaries making it easier for them to pay directly for their purchased products. All in all, it is expected that around 30 freelancers and SMEs will be able to take advantage of this initiative.

“The last time a similar aid was launched was in 2010, but we wanted to make an economic effort because we believe that the audiovisual sector of the Region of Murcia can be greatly strengthened and advance in its adaptation to an increasingly demanding technological landscape. Furthermore, the sector's own associations had agreed on the importance of implementing this measure,” said Javier Celdrán, the Minister of Finance of Murcia.

This is a dynamic sector with constant innovation in technology which requires people and groups involved in it to stay abreast and be well equipped. That is why the grants are destined only for the purchasing of new and first-use equipment.

These could be a wide range of tech products, among them: digital video cameras, professional sound equipment, lighting elements, optics, tripods, stabilizers, capture cards, hardware storage systems, 2D and 3D computer graphics software and software for digital editing and post-production.
