The Bulgarian ski resort Bansko already has modern wasterwater treatment plant. Many citizens and visitors of the city were on the opening of the new facilitiy and assured the benefit of the new acquisition, which cleans one of the most valuable resources - water. The event was the final stage of the large project "Rehabilitation of the water supply and sewerage network of the town of Bansko with construction of a WTP ". The budget of the project is over 42 million euros. The project is funded by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union and by the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria through Operational Program "Environment 2014-2020".
Water purification has a great ecological effect. Drinking water losses are reduced, water resources are saved, and drinking water quality and water supply are improved. This project gives more comfort to Bansko and its residents and guests, now the resort will be even more preferred by tourists as it solves very big problem related to the water supply and water purification. Municipality will seek funding for the water supply and sewerage network in the southeastern part of the city, which is not covered by the implemented project.
