The so called “compliance check” is done at boarding gates
The passenger identity is now verified at the boarding gate. The new rules are part of the Passenger Name Record measures (PNR). The procedure compares the ID documents with the boarding card of the passengers. The visual check verifies if the name on the identity card is identical to that printed on the boarding pass. This check is conducted at the boarding gate for every flight from and to Belgium.
The aim of the PNR measures is to anticipate the transfer of passenger data from the airlines to the crisis centre 2 days before the flight and when the plane is landing. Brussels Airlines had already started to transfer this data information from the beginning of 2018. In near future the rest of the Belgian airlines will work on the same principle.
