The French city of Angers offers the refund as means to promote soft mobility forms
The French city of Angers has a special policy to facilitate mobility of its inhabitants, in particular – for those who use or want to purchase e-bikes. In an attempt to promote soft forms of mobility, Angers Loire Métropole offers to give 25% of the price back as a subsidy for electric-assist bikes bought between June 17, 2019 and December 31, 2020. VAT is included and the subsidy is applied to the price up to 200 euros (400 euros for cargo bicycles).
The equipment covered by the purchasing aid is new electric bicycles and cargo-carrying bicycles, folding or non-folding, meeting the standards in force and laid out in the European Directive 2002/24. Namely, “cycles with pedal assistance which are equipped with an auxiliary electric motor having a maximum continuous rated power of 0,25 kW, of which the output is progressively reduced and finally cut off as the vehicle reaches a speed of 25 km/h, or sooner, if the cyclist stops pedaling”.
In order to benefit from the refund, the citizens should present invoice, certificate for correspondence with the applicable norms, proof of address, sworn statement that the bike will not be sold back and finally – bank details.
